Our Community

The Midlocanics work to spread the FIRST message to its community and beyond.   We’ve been seen demonstrating our robots at the mall, the YMCA, at pep rallies, the state fair, nursing homes and elementary schools.  We meet with business professionals and legislators at Business Expos,technology receptions and even the state capital.  All to highlight the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines in our schools and workforce. 

We believe it's important to help others whenever possible.  We've mentored three rookie FIRST Robotic Competition teams and consistently volunteer to set up regional FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and FIRST Lego League (FLL) competitions.  The Midlocanics have hosted FLL and Junior FLL competitions.  We try to be there whenever Virginia FIRST needs help!

We’ve collected food and clothes for the underprivileged.  We’ve provided scholarships for graduating seniors and for students to attend summer camp.  And our recycling efforts are known throughout the community.
